Story:
All day Lia had been fine watching the other contestants rush all over the place, she remained calm and relaxed as usual, only slowly, the later it got, the more that faint feeling of nervousness developed in her stomach. It was only after mounting Prinzie that she suddenly felt this uneasiness overcome her. It had been quite a while since her last competition, let alone with a young horse that still had 0 show experience. She took a deep breath.
Her husband came along to help her tighten the girth one last time, checking the stirrup length once more... and of course knowing her too well not to notice her subtle change in mood. But instead of saying anything, he only needed to take her hand, place a kiss on the back off it and give her the most reassuring eyes he could make.
She smiled down on him warmly, nodding a thank-you, before riding off again, walking, trotting, cantering some more rounds to properly stretch her young little stallion. Of course he too had noticed the difference, carrying now a much braver rider his back. Prinzie generally felt a little lost without his buddy Davaj, who had to stay at home; the better it was that all his attention went to Lia now. It was their turn now.
Gladly, the foggy weather wasn't anything new to the stallion, growing up at their stables surrounded by a bog; fog in the mornings especially was almost an everyday situation. He liked the fog. It made it seem like all the meanie horses weren't on this planet anymore and he was only together with his beloved gentle rider, who gave him all the love and patience he needed. Lia always greatly enjoyed 'dancing' with him, one move following another felt so natural to them, the pressure and anxiety about being graded half-forgotten, they both were pulled into this dance.
